In the framework of the AT VIRTUAL (INTERREG VB – Atlantic Area) project, the selection event corresponding to the second call involved in Bigdata / analytics was celebrated on January, 27th.
This event has a twofold objective: On the one hand, to disseminate the importance and relevance of the Bigdata / Analytics in the maritime industry and, on the other hand, to give international visibility to the startups competing to take up the challenges proposed by the Maritime Safety Training Centres involved in the project.
The event started with a welcome from the organizing partner – ENIDH – and the project leader – CEEI Asturias – who presented the main objective and phases of the AT VIRTUAL project to the participants. During this opening, a brief introduction was also made about the challenges that were included in this second call by the MSTCs.
Subsequently, a workshop on successful cases of the application of this technology was held, which was conducted by ENIDH, with the participation of Fernando Bação and Miguel Neto, both professors at NOVA IMS, who made several inspiring presentations on real cases of application of Bigdata / Analytics in the maritime field.
To end the act, the four preselected startups made a pitch in about their business activity in three minutes, a scoring activity to be able to take on the challenge to which they applied. The shortlisted companies, 3 were from Asturias – BETTERMAPS, UPINTELLIGENCE and KOINSYS and the fourth – STAT&MORE- came from the Pays da la Loire region in France.
After the individual interviews, in which each of the startups had the opportunity to hold a meeting with the center to which they had sent a solution to their challenge, the selection event was concluded.
