On 11 May, the AT-Virtual Webinar on current uses and expected trends of immersive technologies in the field of learning was organised by the French partner, Laval Mayenne Technopole.

The event counted with CLARTE, a consulting and innovation centre for virtual reality, augmented reality and emerging technologies located in Laval. The two speakers from Clarte, Alexandre Bouchet, CEO and Mathieu Chacun, VR Immersive learning business developer,  explained the opportunities offered by the use of these technologies focused on training.

CEEI Asturias, the leader of AT Virtual, was in charge of the presentation of the project, whose aim is to accelerate the digitisation process of Maritime Safety Training Centres (MSTCs) in the Atlantic Area through the introduction of enabling technologies to improve capacity, preparedness and response in maritime emergency operations. During the presentation was mentioned that in the third call for challenges, which closed in April, three of the five challenges proposed focused on the search for technological solutions in this field.

Alongside artificial intelligence, immersive learning has shown tremendous potential in the field of learning, as it creates an environment that helps to minimise the gap between theory and practical application, offering truly promising solutions. In this sense, it is predicted that by 2023, 23 million jobs will use Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) and can therefore generate a relevant boost in the global economy.
